The play is an adaptation of the novel by Haruki Murakami of the same name. Murakami is a major Asian literary figure and according to the New York Times, is poised to be the most well-read Japanese author outside of Japan ever. The play will be a surreal, multi-media performance involving live performance, choreography, film projection, and elements of Japanese theatre such as Noh mask work and bunraku puppets.
